Seeking DC endo recommendations

Help! I've just moved to DC and need a good endo and also a good primary care MD who is well-versed in caring for women with T1 diabetes. Bonus if it's the same MD, but I expect I'd see a specialist periodically and the PCP regularly. Ideally the endo would specialize in T1 and also seeing T1 women through pregnancy. Bonus points if they're in NW or Bethesda. Many thanks in advance!

Hi there. I'm definitely late to this post but thought I would throw out some recommendations in case you haven't found someone good. I lived in Chevy Chase, MD for the last 11 years before moving to Denver in September. I had a great endo in Bethesda. Her name is Dr. Shabina Ahmed. She was part of the Johns Hopkins Community Physicians practice in Bethesda.  My primary care was part of Physicians Associates with locations in Chevy Chase and Rockville. His name is Dr. Joel Schulman. I recommend both doctors and saw them for quite a few years. Good luck in your search!

Hi Swestrom1,

I would certainly echo the recommendation for Dr. Ahmed, who Erika also recommended to me when I relocated to the area.  She and her team have been great and embrace the same proactive approach I try to take in managing my Type 1 diabetes.  They've done a great job in answering my questions and in working with me to develop a solid management plan to reach my A1C goals.  I'm also newer to the DC metro area so please message me if I can be of more help.
