 DECEMBER 2014 NEWSLETTER                                                                        ISSUE 74

Greetings! ,

With 2014 coming to an end, many of us are reflecting on the year. We hope this newsletter helps you end your year in an upbeat, hopeful mood. Not only does this newsletter include a Holiday Survival Guide, and a compilation of our VERY BEST blogs and articles from 2014, it also provides an overview of some of our biggest accomplishments in 2014 and even an opportunity to share your 2015 resolutions. Be sure to also check out the newest additions to our Board of Directors. Finally, if you are planning to do any reading over the holidays, be sure to check out my new book, A Woman's Guide to Diabetes, in the block to the right

Here's to a joyful holiday season and the very best 2015 has to offer!  Talk to you next year!

TIPS: HOLIDAY SURVIVAL GUIDE
With the holidays fast approaching (is it really December already?), we realize that while they are wonderful, they can be a difficult time, too -- especially if you're living with diabetes!

We've created a Holiday Survival Guide to help you eat, drink, celebrate, and be your best self this holiday season!

Holiday Eating
  • Never show up to a party starving! Your blood sugar will be harder to manage, and you'll be more tempted to dig into the cookies, pies, and candies. Eat a reasonable breakfast and lunch that day.
Parties
  • Think balance, not perfection. Don't punish yourself for an "off day" after a party or event. Just breathe, reboot, and remember that each day is an opportunity for growth!

 Family Time

  • Make it a stress-free holiday season! Instead of feeling the need to cook, host, and cater to everyone, stay in for a family game night or go to a movie one night instead!

LOOKING FORWARD: 2015 GOALS

It's almost 2015, and with the new year brings fresh starts and new chances for you to learn, grow, and get stronger!

What's your New Years Resolution? Maybe it's to start taking daily walks, or to try to floss every day, or even to spend more time with people you love!

We want YOU to share your resolutions with US! Email us at info@diabetes.org, or tweet us at @DiabetesSisters, and we'll share your plans with our followers!

Good luck - and remember: the success of your new year depends on YOU!
