This month, we celebrate Diabetes Awareness Month and we strive to educate the general public about diabetes: what it is, what it isn't, treatment options and so many other facets of our personal journeys with diabetes.
There's so much we know about diabetes, and so much we have yet to learn. This month, we have compiled the best of our articles to continue to inform you on how diabetes affects our bodies, our eating habits, and even our sexuality. Since 2007, DiabetesSisters has committed itself to bringing women with diabetes support, education, and advocacy. We educate, not only in November, we educate every day of the year.
Later this month, on Wednesday, November 18, we welcome Jennifer Smith, RD, LD, CDE, as she leads our last Life Class Webinar of the year: Tips for Making It Easier. I hope you will join us and listen to words of wisdom from one of our esteemed faculty.
We've also partnered with some great companies to offer special giveaways to help you manage diabetes better. Read on to learn about how to win items from Livliga - a company making products to facilitate portion-control in an easy, satisfying and elegant way - and our longtime friends at Myabetic, who create stylish supply cases to carry diabetes supplies.
Finally, this month brings us the start of the holiday season. For me, it's a time of reflection of the good things that have come my way during the year: my healthy family, a successful move to a new state, good health, and my work with DiabetesSisters. I'm so grateful to have the honor of representing YOU, finding ways to make our journey easier while living with diabetes.
A few years ago, we created the video you see below. It reminds me of the work we do each day, the work so many advocates do to ensure we live the best life we can live. I hope as the season of giving begins, you will consider DiabetesSisters in your giving plans. You can sign up for monthly giving via our Sister Strength program or consider using Amazon Smile and choosing DiabetesSisters as a recipient.
Until next month, I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!

DIABETES AWARENESS MONTH: LIVLIGA GIVEAWAY
"Livliga, founded in early 2011 in Boulder, Colorado, was conceived out of a personal desire to find an answer to our supersized world surrounding eating and to find a better solution beyond the ugly "diet plate". This month, we have partnered with Livliga to giveaway three of their products, including a set of LivSpoons, a set of beverage glasses, and a 16-piece dinnerware set. Learn more at www.livligahome.com.
DiabetesSisters was provided a set of dishes to sample and review. Here's a snippet of what we thought:
"I immediately noticed the portion sizes on the dishes, integrated right into the design of the plates. And then, I turned the dish over, only to discover a key to note what each circle on the plate represented - a cheat sheet, if you will. Ingenious!"
