Earlier this month, I attended the 77th American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions in San Diego, CA. My second time attending, I was once again awed by the number of attendees (14,000+), the scientific posters, the educational sessions, and the exhibit hall with companies sharing the latest (and greatest) advancements in the world of diabetes.

Like many Diabetes Hands Foundation (DHF) Masterlab Fellows, I was not sure of exactly what to expect from the experience before I arrived in Oakland on Friday, March 31 for the 2017 Masterlab weekend. Like many of you, I had read many blog posts and spoken with several advocates in the diabetes online community who attended Masterlab in previous years (and a few of them were in the room this year, too). But this year’s event seemed different – and turned out to be different in a lot of ways.

AADE 2016: 1st Time's a Charm

I arrived in San Diego for the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) Annual Meeting, #AADE16, and immediately went to the special event for the #DSMA Live Twitter Chat “Taking the Online, Offline.” I have never been able to take part in #DSMA before due to commute/schedule/timezone stuff, and haven’t attended AADE before this year, either. But there was no reason to worry – it was an engaging and important kickoff to great diabetes conference.

Two weeks ago, Anna and I had the opportunity to attend the American Diabetes Association 76th Scientific Sessions in New Orleans. While our schedules were packed from early morning until late at night, we also managed to a few laps around the exhibit hall to catch some of the latest products (e.g. Dario BG meter, Tresiba long-acting insulin) and even squeeze in some of the scientific sessions.

Impressions from the ADA Scientific Sessions

Last month, Sarah (our Director of Operations) and I attended the 76th American Diabetes Association (ADA) Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, LA. I’m not certain the city of New Orleans was ready for a crowd of thousands - eager to participate in sessions, learn about the latest technology (Meters, Insulin pumps, and Continuous glucose monitors, oh my!), and listen to clinical trial results – but ADA was ready, and they did not disappoint with the wealth of knowledge we received.
