Good evening everyone.  Been a drizzly overcast couple of days here in Raleigh, NC.  I am trying to get the courage up to check my blood sugar level.  Do any of you feel this way?  I am safe if I don't know what my readings are, right? Wrong.  I know all the bad stuff i have been cramming in my mouth will certainly show up in a negative way.  I was talking with a friend yesterday and we were both discussing how we need to detox from the holidays.  Feeling bloated and grouchy with some not sleeping well makes for a detox plan.


I am a slow learner and don't take my own advice.  The more junk I eat, the more I want.  If I can ever get myself exercising again, then things seem to fall into place.  The urge to eat 'bad' tends to drift away when I begin to exercise and get all the good levels going. It is really crazy not to be motivated.  The bigger you are the harder it is to eat correctly and exercise.  I just have to figure out to push myself to get going and I know I will feel better and have energy. 

I read an article that said by eating protein it sticks to glucose and helps to curb spikes in your blood sugars.  I know in my diabetic classes that your body breaks down carbs in 3 hours, but if you pair with protein and fat, it takes your body longer to break it down and causes less spikes.  It is also true for me that if I eat or drink anything with the high fructose corn syrup, I tend to have cravings.  I now must get myself back a better eating habit.  I have learned that if I buy it, i will gobble it.  My biggest issue is with my portion control. It is like I have no control.  I never used to be this way.  I rarely ever sat still and now I have truly become a couch potato.  I have got to stop with the excuses don't I?

Can any of you recommend a great meal planner/weight loss program for the droid?  If so, would you please shoot me an email to joan@diabetessisters.org.  I have heard of Spark, but when i attempted to get started, they didn't want me to try it because I was diabetic.  That was several years ago and maybe they have changed?  I like to hear from folks that are actually using these programs and they work.  I tried Weight Watchers, but it didn't seem to work for me.  I really like a program promoted by Prevention magazine, Diabetic Dtour, but it got so time consuming.  You had to cook each meal.  They were delicious, but you couldn't fix any of them ahead of time.  It gave you balance with vitamin D, fiber, omega 3's and calcium.  Perhaps my biggest downfall is lack of organization.  I never seem to have enough time to get anything done.  I don't understand what is happening.  I have to figure out how get my groove back

I am not sure when, but my days are numbered for blogging.  We blog for 6 months and boy has it flown by.  I am sure that i bored everyone to tears and perhaps the next lady will be a wonderful blogger that keeps you entertained.
