I was once told by an old man, that when people ask you "How are you?" if you always respond, "FANTASTIC!" you will start to convince yourself and begin to ultimately believe that you really are fantastic. So, I tried this, for 5 years. Regardless of having a roller coaster blood sugar day, or having just popped my stomach with an infusion site, or just the overall bummer of having to deal with diabetes on a daily basis, when asked, I was, and truely did begin to feel that I was Fantastic, because, really, it all wan't that bad. No reason to dwell on the negative.
Packing for two kids under 10 years old for a pilgrimage to go see grandma for the holidays, plus making sure I have the full stash of the diabetic gear I need, is quite the challenge. When diagnosed, I vowed that I would not let diabetes stop me from living the life I want to live, which often includes adventure travel and sports.
I BEEP NOW.
It is not uncommon to hear my kids tell me, “Mom, you’re beeping” or for my dog to bark from the sound of the alarm going off that is stuck to my body.
It’s hard to believe, but it has been six months since I started blogging for Diabetes Sisters, and this is my last blog! The time has really been flying by lately.
