Dexcom during exercise.

Question: I used to do Zumba on a regular basis. This year, I had some health issues that forced me to stop for awhile. Now I am trying to work my way back up to it. In the meantime, I have started using a Dexcom CGM. Love it (generally) but just can't figure out...what do you do with the receiver thing while you do a class like Zumba? Or run? For a walk, I can shove it in a pocket or fanny pack-type thing. But, the other I just can't visualize! Any words of wisdom out there?

Hi Karen!

Some people with them just take them off for exercise that is 30 minutes or less, especially if they think their blood sugar is pretty stable before hand. As you know, the beauty of the system is that it "finds" you within a few minutes after getting it close to you again, so you can keep an eye on those post-exercise blood sugar fluctuations.
One guy that I know Velcros his to the handle bars of his bike when he goes for long rides. I don't think you would want to have it Velcroed to you during Zumba…or maybe you might! Presents an interesting picture anyway!

I try to find a spot close to my "stuff". Sometimes the receiver picks up my blood sugar and sometimes it doesn't. I always stop and check my blood half way through class to see how I'm doing. I can usually tell if it's low during class though. Zumba has really kept me in shape. I love it!
