Injury

I have a really hard time getting exercise in. Teaching in my school district has just become way too time consuming. To make things worse, now I have hurt my foot. I was going out to my car last night after dark last night and, on the way back, I stepped on a rather large rock. I now have a large, swollen bruise right down the middle of the bottom of my foot. It is very painful. I at least have been able to getting quite a bit of exercise in running around the room, hallways, and stairs of my school. I think I will have to stay off of my foot the next few days. Just the little bit of walking I have done around the house today has been really painful. If it's not one things, it's something else!

Sounds like you've really done it to that foot. Make sure you try to stay off of it as much as possible. I know this may be difficult, but may be necessary. Take care of it so it doesn't develop into something more serious.

Donna,

As I am sure you know...diabetic neuropathy is a common complication in diabetes. Make sure you keep an eye on this...In fact, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get it checked out by a professional...I have never seen a bruise down the bottom of a foot----but it sounds ULTRA painful!

It was a really nasty looking bruise, but it is much better now. I still hurts if I push on it, but I can walk without pain. Staying on my feet at work didn't help much. It is healing better than I expected.

On the subject of neuropathy, I got a letter from UT Southwestern Medical Center stating that they are starting a study for treatment for the pain associated with diabetes neuropathy and are looking for people to participate. (I hope that made sense) I don't have any complications of any kinds right now (thank goodness) but someone else on the board may.
