Hello :)

Hello everyone, I came across Diabetes Sisters about a year ago and was immediately reassured and happy to see so that there were so many women out there like me - who have been dealing with diabetes for so many years or who are newly diagnosed. It has been wonderful to read so many inspiring stories. Many have them have allayed my fears, made me laugh and given me hope. I have had type 1 since I was 9 years old. I am now 44 and while I'm healthy, my diabetes has not always been in great control. For many years my A1C's were at an 8 and my sugars were erratic. I'm now below 7 which is great, but am beginning treatment (shots) for retinopathy in both eyes - tomorrow, in fact. I'm slightly terrified about this, but am so grateful that there is treatment and that I have great doctors who are honest about the best courses of treatment, even when they're not fun! I look forward to reading many more of your stories. Nicole

Hi Nicole,

Welcome and we are so glad you found DiabetesSisters. I think it's normal for management to go up and down - I know it has been the case for me over my 40+ years with diabetes so far. Good for you for getting back on track, and best of luck on those eye treatments.
