I found an article in All You Magazine talking about this site and I decided that I would take a look.

I have been a Type 1 Diabetic since 1992. I received my diagnosis the day of my tenth birthday. It was a rough way to grow up. lol But I had very understanding friends and family. In the recent years past I have also been diagnosed with Hoshimotos Disease (Hypothyroidism) and now have the possibility of Lupus. I could use all the help and advice I can get from anyone on how to manage multiple auto immune diseases.

I in return hope that I can also be a guiding light for someone who may need advice or just a friend to talk to.

I think this site is a great way to find support and understanding.

Thank you to Brandy Barns for creating such a place.

Shalyn--
Sorry it took so long for me to respond to your kind words...I was out of town! Indeed, managing multiple autoimmune diseases is difficult. I, too, have type 1 diabetes and thyroid disease. If you can possibly come to the Weekend for Women Conference in Raleigh, NC on APril 29-May 1, please do! We will have some educational sessions for women with diabetes on this specific topic-- managing concurrent illnesses-- like diabetes and thyroid disease, diabetes and heart disease, etc.

I'd love to meet you!

Hi Shalyn - Glad you were able to find this site. It is so nice to see other people having to go through some of the same things I am here. I also have several autoimmune diseases and can get frustrated with balancing it all and "regular life". I have found this a good place to vent and get feedback!

I hope you are doing well, Shandra
