Hi everyone. I just found this forum. I only know one other juvenile onset/type 1 diabetic. I know several type 2's, but since these are two different diseases, I don't talk to the type 2's about diabetes because we always end up arguing, except my brother-in-law.
I've been members of several other Diabetic Forums, I've let my membership slip in all but one because my posts get deleted due to the fact that I am unlike most of the other juvenile onset's on the forum. As you see, I don't refer to myself as a type 1 but juvenile onset. Why? Because I wasn't diagnosed as a type 1 but as a juvenile onset. I always add that juvenile onset is also known as type 1, so people do know what I have.
I started off using NPH beef U-40, then switched to U-60 (I think) then U-80, at this point Regular was added. I don't remember when I switched from beef to pork to beef pork. Lastly I went to U-100. In 2014 after they found I had cancer of psuedomyxoma peritonel, which in non medical terms is cancer of the appendix, I found my endo.
She didn't like the N and R I was on and quickly switched me to u100 humalog and lantus. I am still not a fan of these insulins, but because of me pumping, I'm on them. She put me on the Dexcom G4 in December 2014 and I got my Tandem T:Slim G4 a year later.
I will be upgrading to the new tandem pump next year, when the warranty for my G4 is expired. I will then switch to the Dexcom G6 as well.
