Hi Everyone.

I am new here and new to the type 2 diabetes that I was diagnosed with on Thursday! I have been feeling off for the past few months and had already started making changes to my lifestyle when I was tested.

I'm in my 30's, married, no kids and work in the field of Social Work. I am hoping to manage my diabetes with medication, and healthy lifestyle changes and choices. My doctor has told me its possible to get things under control. He has made a referral for me to a clinic to get some help in regards to eating etc. I am looking forward to having some help in that regard.

I think I already knew I was heading down this path, my grandmother, great-grandmother etc have struggled with type 1 and type 2. I know that I do not want to live the same life as my grandmother who was type 2. She lived her life and ate whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. I don't want that.

I'm somewhat scared and overwhelmed with all the changes happening but my doctor has been supportive. I'm not sure if it matters but I'm also a Canuk ;) My husband is American though.

My immediate family are the only ones who know for now. My step-dad is also type 2 and he has been really supportive and trying to keep my spirits up. My mom has been awesome but is a little overwhelming with all the information she has provided me. Not that I don't appreciate it. Just I need her to slow down.

Also when I am nervous I talk a lot....and ramble.

Anyway, howdy. That's my entry if I go on any longer I could be here all day.

I look forward to getting to know everyone!:woohoo:
