New to site but not new to diabetes

Hi everyone!

My name is Tiffany and I was very excited to read about this site. I have been trying to find an online community for women with diabetes but wasn't having much luck with anything other than the ADA forums.

I've been a T1 since I was 10 months old - I was diagnosed on an Army base in Ethiopia. I took 2 shots a day for years and years and years and went on an insulin pump 10 years ago. I've been extremely lucky in that my mom took such great care of me, and also taught me to take care of my diabetes at a VERY young age, that I haven't experienced any major complications. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the age of 7 and I've since discovered that I have somewhat of a gluten intolerance, but otherwise, I can't really complain. I have had recurring carpal tunnel but I think that's more a byproduct of grad school rather than diabetes.

The big issue with me right now is that my job with my local municipality was unexpectedly terminated in May. So for the 1st time in my life I'm unemployed. My husband got a great job traveling which leaves me at home with our 8 yr old son and our house full of furbabies (5 dogs and 4 cats). I'm trying to figure out something to do job-wise on a part time basis, but I haven't figured out exactly what yet. I do some freelance writing on the side and I have a food blog that I do, mainly because creating recipes is therapeutic for me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this & have a great day everyone!:cheer:
