Diabetes affecting oral health

Hi am suffering from Type 1 diabetes. I am taking insulin for the same. But last day my gums were bleeding. I think it was because I brushed too hardly. I kept clove oil to reduce the pain but I didn't find any difference. I called up my friend. She suggested going to a her family dentistry in Toronto ( http://www.centenarydental.com/about/dr-wolchs-journey-holistic-dentistry/ ) . But I am afraid of dental treatment. When I googled I found that diabetes can effect our oral health. How can I protect my oral health? Please share the tips I can use to prevent oral issues.

Just check the sugar level. If the sugar level is high there can be bleeding.
