Hi Everyone! I am so excited to be here! I am a new moderator. I happen to be a certified diabetes educator (CDE) and I also have type 2 diabetes myself.

I'll be dropping in from time to time to welcome people and answer any questions. I might actually have some of my own questions too!

Looking forward to being here and interacting with all the diabetes sisters out there!

Thanks for caring :) I know I often feel really alone. A shoulder to lean on makes it seem easier.

I think forums are such a great way for people with a condition or situation to reach out and be reassured you are not alone!! TTYL

Sister Nanny, hi, I am the other new co-moderator. You have come to the best resource for women with diabetes. Since I have been a member, I have learned so much about the disease. Please see if there is a monthly PODs near your home. You talk about learning and have fun and a wonderful support system.. Last night we had our monthly one and instead of two hours, it was 3 hours. It inspires me, peps me up, and encourages me. We have ladies from newly diagnosed to having diabetes for 44 years. Talking about experience! These ladies really care. We go around the room and discuss our problems and our accomplishments. Deb, Laura and I are here for you. Please don't feel alone, we are here for you. Just reach out to us. Take care and welcome.

Thank you so much for your kind welcome. I live in Livonia, MI and I don't believe there's a POD near me. TOO BAD!!

Nancy,
You could possibly start a monthly PODs in your area. It would be a great way to meet other Sisters like you. The group doesn't have to be a large one. There is already packets prepared that you could distribute, maybe to doctors offices, dentists, eye doctors to get the idea going. If you are interested or need more info, contact kelli@diabetessisters.org. She is an excellent source of info and is such a wonderful Sister. Please let me know if there is anything i can do to help. If you need someone to talk with, you can always send me a note at joan@diabetesssters.org. This is the best support group ever!!!
