Hang in there...One suggestion might be the new Weight Watchers program. It is a much more balanced program now taking into account protein, fiber and a lot more focus on fruits and veggies.

I am a T1 and have struggled for 7 years and recently went into DKA which was a huge scare. I decided to slow down, be mindful, and make my health and weight loss my top priority. I am amazed at the results - I have had so much success just by writing things down, staying focused and following a plan. I have also really focused on what different foods and exercise does to my blood sugar. This has really helped my success rate.

Good luck!:)

I'm having problems with high Blood Sugars, especially my fasting one. Been running 350-400. Not sure what to do to bring them down. My Doctor is no help, just gives me more drugs. Also I'm confused about what to eat when BS is high, and what to eat to get them to stay down. I was a shift worker before my disablity, so not used to eating on a schedule. Also I have High Blood Pressure. Being on disablity I have a limited income so I rely on food pantries for some of my food.

Kysial - my sugars have been running high as well, 400 - 500 the last week or so. I take medication in the evening and in the morning - it didn't really help. What i decided to do was eat very little - i know that's probably not the best thing to do - but it did bring dowm my sugars to 314. I also walk 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the afternoon. Cut what you're eating in half - for a few days and see what happens. Plus i did not have any snacks. I am drinking a lot of water and tea. For me it was absolutely necessary to get my sugars down. You should see your sugars going down. I guess its also a matter of WHAT you're eating. If you are home - and if you can get on the floor - while you are watching TV - do exercises; do whatever but keep moving ...

Hang in there -

Hi Flower,
Sorry I didn't see this sooner but I have been away! Please ask your doctor if you might have Type 1 diabetes. Some people start out appearing to be Type 2, but in a very short time begin to run out of insulin. It is also known as LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults). If this is what you have no amount of exercise or dieting will bring down your blood sugars, but you will need insulin.
Please talk to your doctor about this possibility. Hope things are better soon!
