AUGUST 2015 NEWSLETTER, ISSUE 83

Dear DiabetesSister,

I can't believe it's already August - my summer has been filled with changes: moving to a new city, settling into a new home, and unpacking lost treasures.

I've also spent time learning more about how I can advocate for YOU; women living with diabetes. Last month, I attended the Diabetes Hands Foundation's MasterLab sessions and the annual Friends for Life Conference. The MasterLab sessions proved to be a necessary tool for me in leading DiabetesSisters.

On a personal diabetes-related note, the calendar alerted me of my 22nd year living with diabetes on August 1st. I spent some time the last few weeks with the reminder of the wonderful diabetes-community that surrounds me, a community that I very much needed 22 years ago. From a fellow DiabetesSister bringing me a CGM sensor at Friends for Life, to a local Chicagoland d-gathering, a much-needed phone call with a good friend and dinner with a friend who shares the diabetes journey with me. Our community is alive and I am grateful to the Sisterhood for providing me personal support and education.

This month's newsletter is a quiet one but still full of stories from our bloggers and articles from our experts. Please be sure to check them out in the right hand column. We will be hosting our next Life Class Webinar Series installment, led by Diana Naranjo, PhD. I hope you will join us as we discuss diabetes and eating disorders, a growing concern among our community.

Until next month, I wish you sunny days!

In Sisterhood,
