July 2019: Resources for Summer Travel with Diabetes

A big part of summer fun is travel! Vacations, weekend getaways or even just day trips - summer is the time to hit the road. Before you head out, make sure you are set with everything you need to keep diabetes on track so you can get on with having fun. We've put together some resources to get you in the know - then off you go!

A great place to start is on The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES website. Download their Tips for Traveling pdf found in the Lifestyle Resources section of the site.

Next head over to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) website for tips on preparing for all sorts of trips - including international travel.

If your trip will involve airplane travel, be sure the check the TSA screening guidelines. Check the Special Procedures section and use the drop-down menu for instructions on travel with medications and with an insulin pump or glucose monitor. You may also choose to download and fill out a TSA Notification Card or set up TSA Cares .
