Dear Anna ,

It's October and you know what that means--- November (National Diabetes Awareness Month!) is right around the corner! Before we get ahead of ourselves, don't miss out on all of the great things we have going on at DiabetesSisters this month-- including the recent press in Diabetes Forecast magazine and the upcoming Conference in Los Angeles, CA!  Since many of you have asked about the release of my upcoming book, we've included updated information about it below. I hope October is a great month for you!

WEEKEND FOR WOMEN CONFERENCE: MEET US IN LOS ANGELES ON OCTOBER 24TH!

9801 Airport Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90004

It's almost here --the 2014 Weekend for Women conference in sunny Los Angeles, CA is just days away! This two-day event, from
October 24-25, 2014, will be a weekend to remember: filled with group activities, dynamic speakers, and chances to meet, connect, and support other women living with diabetes from around the country!

Beginning in 2010, this conference has become the premier forum for women living with diabetes, and many have come away from the weekend inspired by tips for travel, pregnancy, and exciting new technologies in the field. This year's conference theme, Stepping Stones, highlights the idea that it is the small steps that we take each and every day that allow us to live healthy, productive, and centered lives-- and it's those small steps that are the most important to building a path to success!  By being involved in our supportive group of renowned speakers and our network of positive women, we can help you take the first step toward your goal!

All women with diabetes (pre-diabetes, type 1, type 2, LADA, gestational) are invited to attend AND

bring their loved ones too!

Please Note: Registration is the same price for ALL attendees and covers all educational sessions, 1 Conference tote bag, 1 commemorative t-shirt, light appetizers on Friday night, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday.

We are grateful for the support of our
Weekend for Women Conference Los Angeles sponsors

TIPS FOR MAKING DIABETES EASIER
sunset-woman-hammock.jpg
Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or just burnt out? Check out these tips for making life with diabetes a little bit easier.

Stop the 4 pm munchies: to avoid mindlessly snacking in the kitchen (or elsewhere), separate portions of food into small ziplock bags. You'll know how much you're eating and have access to a healthy snack on the go.

Count it: many people tend to overestimate the amount of activity they've gotten, so why guess? Use a pedometer to help you count your steps and stick to your targets.

Trouble remembering medication? Digital pillboxes can help. The MedFolio Electronic Pillbox will alert you visually, or through e-mail and text reminders that you are due for your medicine. No more worrying!

Every day, DiabetesSisters is here for YOU
and more than 10,000 women with diabetes. Our programs connect them through peer support, education and advocacy that improves their health and quality of life.  We invite you to be part of expanding that network of sisterhood and strength by joining our new Sister Strength Monthly Giving program.

Set up your monthly gift today: Together we will build a stronger future for women with diabetes!
