DiabetesSisters Receives Funding from Novo Nordisk
in honor of International Corporate Philanthropy Day

DURHAM, NC – DiabetesSisters is pleased to announce that Novo Nordisk recently awarded a special grant to the nonprofit organization in the amount of $10,000 in honor of International Corporate Philanthropy Day (ICPD).

“DiabetesSisters provides a strong system of support for women with diabetes that includes encouragement, empowerment and education," said Diana Blankman, Director of Grants and Philanthropy for Novo Nordisk.  “We are delighted to partner with DiabetesSisters and award them with this special grant.” The organization was recognized for their outstanding commitment to improving the health and quality of life for women with diabetes.

“We are excited to not only be recognized for our work but to also have the financial support of such a well-known and highly respected company in the diabetes industry like Novo Nordisk.” said Brandy Barnes, Founder and CEO of DiabetesSisters.

ICPD is celebrated on the fourth Monday in February each year.  This special day was created in 2004 by the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy and brings together business leaders, government officials, and nonprofit organizations to honor corporate giving and community investment around the world.

With this funding, DiabetesSisters will continue to invest in the diabetes community by maintaining its online resources, such as the new SisterMatch Program, sisterTALK blogs, and “From the Experts” Columns.  The organization will maintain their in-person programming, such as the national PODS Meetup Program(support group) and the Weekend for Women Conference held annually in Raleigh, NC.  For more information, please visit www.diabetessisters.org.
