Roche Diagnostics commits support to DiabetesSisters, 501c3

RALEIGH, NC – DiabetesSisters, a North Carolina-based nonprofit organization, announced today that Roche Diagnostics has pledged $20,000 to the organization’s 2010 efforts to improve the health and quality of life of women with diabetes.

“We are excited to have the financial support of a well-known and highly respected company in the diabetes industry like Roche Diagnostics. Roche understands the importance of providing resources that are specific to women with diabetes, which is something we have been doing at DiabetesSisters for years,” said Brandy Barnes, Founder/Executive Director of DiabetesSisters.

In 2010, DiabetesSisters plans to maintain its online resources related to healthy living for women with diabetes, including diabetes and the law, pregnancy, menopause, medical decision making for family, and physical and emotional health. The organization’s hallmark program, the Diabetes Buddy Program, will expand to more accurately match more women with a friend who has diabetes. The organization will also continue to hold quarterly live meet ups where women with type 1, type 2, gestational, LADA, and MODY diabetes can network, talk and simply share experiences.

May 2010 will bring the highly anticipated Weekend for Women Conference hosted by DiabetesSisters and TCOYD to Raleigh, NC. This Conference will be held in conjunction with the Taking Control of Your Diabetes Conference and Health Fair the weekend of May 22-23, 2010. It is open to women with all types of diabetes and will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Marriott City Center. Interactive sessions and lectures from experts in the field of diabetes will focus on gender-specific topics related to diabetes management.
