Join DiabetesSisters for an engaging and action-oriented EveryBody Covered Advocacy Workshop, where we’ll empower patient advocates to drive meaningful change in obesity care coverage. EveryBODY Covered is a nationwide effort to ensure that everybody has access to comprehensive obesity care, including FDA-approved medications. This session will feature Millicent Gorham, CEO of the Alliance for Women’s Health & Prevention, and convenor of the EveryBODY Covered Campaign, who will share insights on the importance of advocacy, key policy developments, and practical steps you can take to make an impact with your employers and key policymakers. Whether you’re new to advocacy or a seasoned advocate, this workshop will provide five easy, high-impact actions to help you raise your voice and move the needle on obesity care coverage.
About the Speakers
Millicent Gorham is the inaugural CEO of the Alliance for Women’s Health and Prevention, previously serving as its Board Chair. With over 35 years in government relations, she has shaped health policy through roles with the Congressional Black Caucus, American Optometric Association, and National Rural Health Association. She led the National Black Nurses Association for 25 years, overseeing advocacy and operations for 308,000 nurses. As Executive Director of Movement is Life, she advanced health equity and mobility initiatives. A trusted advisor, she has served on boards for Yale, The Rockefeller Foundation, and Pfizer. Honored with numerous awards, she holds an MBA from Howard University.
