DiabetesSisters Welcomes Program Manager to Oversee Social Media Engagements

Raleigh, NC (September 5, 2017) - DiabetesSisters is pleased to announce the addition of Karen Graffeo to the DiabetesSisters staff as Program Manager.  Karen has been an active volunteer with DiabetesSisters since 2014, hosting the monthly Virtual PODS support group meetups. She has been actively involved with the diabetes online community since creating her patient blog, Bitter-Sweet, in 2008, and founded Diabetes Blog Week in May of 2010.  This annual online event is aimed at helping to connect and unite bloggers with all types of diabetes through a week of blogging, and it continues to grow and evolved each year under Karen's leadership. Recently, she oversaw content creation and moderation of the DiabetesSistersVoices, an online community focusing on research needs of women living with diabetes.

She has been living with diabetes since December of 1979, and brings a wide perspective in patient advocacy. In her role, she will oversee social media engagement including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. She will also manage the organization’s website, www.diabetessisters.org, and serve as content director for the monthly e-newsletter.

“As DiabetesSisters continues to grow, so does our need for relevant content and engagement for our community,” said Anna Norton, CEO of DiabetesSisters. “I am excited about Karen’s new role within the organization.”
