Our Mission
DiabetesSisters is a women-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that cultivates a supportive and inclusive community where women of all ages with diabetes and women at risk of diabetes can learn and thrive—together.
Through educational initiatives and nationwide peer support, we help women navigate their health journeys and find a sense of belonging through their diverse experiences.
OUR STORY
A Sisterhood of Support
DiabetesSisters was founded in January 2008 by a woman diagnosed with diabetes in her teens during the early 1990s. She recognized the need for gender-specific diabetes support as she faced social isolation and a lack of resources for women, especially during crucial life stages like pregnancy and menopause.
Over time, DiabetesSisters has grown into a vibrant community that provides nationwide support and education for women with diabetes. This organization strongly believes no woman should have to face diabetes alone. They achieve significant impact through various programs and initiatives that strengthen the sisterhood of support.
