Lois,
Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes for your comment to post. I hope you can see it now!

I am interested to hear more about you...What has your experience with diabetes been like? I'm sure you have seen many changes in the treatment of diabetes over the years...Is diabetes treatment any different in Canada or New Zealand from what you can tell?

Diabetes treatment in NZ is pretty good.We get our insulin and pen needles on prescription and each prescription item costs us $3.00 but we don`t get any help with the purchase of pumps and related supplies. We usually get blood glucose moniters and insulin pens free from the suppliers of the test strips and inulins.I`d love to try a pump but just to buy one would be $5-6ooo.oo plus the on going costs are about $1-2000.00per month.
The effects of diabetes on one`s body is the same here as anywhere and that is my biggest worry.I hate what it has done to me and what I have done to myself.

Lois,

It sounds like diabetes is pretty well covered in NZ, but I do wish you could try a pump. (though I understand the the cost is too much) It really changed my life for the better!-- allowed me to have more flexibility!

I visited NZ about 15 years ago...I will never forget how beautiful and serene it was (and green!) and how friendly the people were!
