Today, the DiabetesSisters’ Board of Directors appointed me to serve as Interim CEO of the organization as Brandy Barnes, Founder, stepped down. Since 2011, I have been on a whirlwind journey full of wonderful moments and priceless memories with DiabetesSisters.

The moment I learned about the organization, I became embedded in it the moment I walked into a Weekend for Women Conference. At the time, I never imagined I would one day organize and coordinate that very conference, along with so many important programs necessary for the mental and emotional well-being of women living with diabetes.

I never imagined my life would change so much when I paid a $100 registration fee to attend sessions and learn more about how diabetes affected me as a woman. I never imagined I would meet hundreds of women thriving with diabetes. And I certainly never imagined the impact these women would have on my life, on my diabetes care and on my well-being.

My connection with you - women just like me - is real and it’s inspiring.

As I step into this new role at DiabetesSisters, I am excited about continuing Brandy’s vision and growing the organization. I just spent a weekend with many of our PODS Meetup Leaders – women who are leading peer support groups in their communities and making a difference in the lives of women with diabetes. I am so proud of this group, so proud of the women we reach and the lives we change.

I have no doubt that together, we will continue to grow, learn and motivate one another.
