Greetings from Williamsburg,VA.  Have been to Colonial Williamsburg for two days and still haven't covered it all.  You might know that I forgot my pedometer, but I can assure you that I have put many miles on pat and charlie (feet).  Thanks goodness, I have my ugly shoes from New Balance, they are fabulous.    I just knew I wouldn't be able to walk after the the first day, but i survived with no pain.

So ready to push the button

Hi everyone.  I have had some busy weeks lately and haven't had the opportunity to blog.  This time change is killing me.  Now i am back to going to bed around 1:00 am and back up at 6:00 a.m. I wake up so tired and looking for a place to take a nap.  My patience is also stretched thin and I am having to work with pushy irritating people.  I normally save my vacation until the end of the year and don't plan on any major work.  It keeps me sane. This irritating, pushy individual made a plan for me to do all this work at the end of the year and keeps picking one of my vacation days to put all of this into production. These folks, yes there are more than one, keep making plans without my input, they discuss it with my boss, make up all these schedules and I keep missing their fabricated dates.  My boss hates that, so i always get my butt cheweds.  Meanwhile i have all these other responsibilities.  I just can't do anything right or fast enough.  I have always been understanding and overlooked the rudeness, but I am really getting tired of it.  I think i am about to blow!!!!

Not Again So Soon

The weather is getting cooler and Thanksgiving is right around the corner and the air smells of pumpkins and spice.  At least we will get an hour of extra sleep this week-end with the time change.  I like the fall backs, but not the springing forward.  My sleep patterns are erratic enough on their own.  It seems by the time I am getting adjusted, it is time to change again.  Any of you have the same problem?  I honestly wished we didn't change the times at all.

Can people pant like a dog?

I think I was panting like a doggie last Saturday at the end of The Step Out Walk for Diabetes.  It started out with a little crispness in the air, just perfect.  I overslept and didn't have breakfast. Thank goodness Panera Bread was there will some tasty bagels and excellent coffee.  Our Diabetes Sisters had a booth set up.  I passed by them the first time around looking for the rest of my team.  When i circled around, I saw their smiling faces.  Of course i was stuffing my face!

i got some good news from my lab work.  In 3 months, my A1C has gone from 12 down to 7.  I am very happy and feeling inspired.  My victoza had been increased to 18 and i am started taking an additional 1.5 amaryl tablet at night. I was already taking one in the morning.  I had a good discussion with my doctor on what to do to help with my ldl and my hdl.  My liver panel was better.  I am finally better and now my dogs have been sick.  It turns out my 13 year old terrier has diabetes.  I took her to the vet because

Hello all, I am blogging from Surfside Beach, SC.  I am here with my daughter, my son-in-law and my 3 year grandson.  My grandson is the love of my life.  We are having a grand time going to the beach, pool and shopping.  i try to take our 3 doggies on a long walk every morning.  Meeting a lot of nice folks while out for a walk.  Some guy looked at me and the dogs and simply said  3 Dog Night.  I have been to a ceramics class.  My first time ever.  I had lots of fun, my art, not too grand.  very relaxing.

Labor Day

Type 2 Diabetes Blog

I hope everyone got an extra day of vacation.  I thought the weather was going to be cooler, but that didn't happen.  Don't you just love the air when you can cut it with a knife?  I spent my Labor Day with my family and got more exercise than I had planned on.  My 3 year grandson was walking my beagle, Ginger, when she jerked the leash out of his hand and took off running, more like flying.  Here i am running behind her (like fat people can run!) chasing her down the highway.

Anybody out there?

I hope this note finds everyone safe and untouched from Irene.  Our house was not affected at all.  Lots of rain and some wind.  Certainly wish the families that are affected can recover their lives. I was living in South Carolina when Hugo came through.  We lost everything in freezer and refrigerator. We slept on the floor and it was hot as the hoots (it was September).  We had no power for 10 days.  Had to go across the street and pump water with an old pitcher pump.  Now how many of you have ever seen one?  I discovered at that time that water is a luxury.  My 2 daughters and I went to a friends house to take showers and we all packed in there at one time.  My daughter had a birthday during this time.  Her friends that came over for a small party thought it was wonderful that they had to eat so much ice cream cake.  It was melting pretty quickly.  i would sneak in early in the mornings at work with my face in a bag.

Whew! what a week

What a week I have had.  A doctor's visit and a dentist visit.  I finally made an appointment and went to see my doctor about not sleeping and my itchy eyelids.  She gave some eyedrops that are really helping and another prescription to help me relax at night.  trying this rather than a sleeping pill.  It is helping also.  I now have to work on getting in the bed before midnight or later.  I keep setting my alarm later and later.  My lovely husband makes sure i am awake before he leaves at 6:00 a.m.  He is my safety net and takes good care of me.
