Hello Diabetes Sisters...

Hello.

I'm not sure where to start with this thread so I'll just put something. :)

I've joined the site because throughout my 20+ years of being a Type 1 Diabetic, I've not had much luck finding a good, fellow diabetic, pal. It'll make a nice change to have one.

Back in 2009 I did the DAFNE course which I have found a great help. I am a manual injector; currently on a course of Humalog and Levemir (split).

I'm happy to help any one who seeks help (typical of a ISFJ!). I can find it difficult asking for help myself, but I put this down to the fact I've been working on my health alone for a long time. I'm sure at least some of the members here can relate.

With this, I look forward to having some fun chats with you all and that I hope this proves to be as much of a rewarding experience as I hope. :)

Take care all.

Hi Lil! Welcome to the Sisters!
You are not alone anymore! Keep checking back. The ladies here are amazing and very supportive.
We are so happy you found us! Tell us more about yourself.
Check out the section on PODS. These are regional support groups for women with diabetes. You could even start one in your area if you are interested, as I"m sure there are women like you out there who would love to get together.
Nice to meet you!

Welcome. Laurie is so right about the Sisterhood. I would also like to point out the SisterMatch Program. You will find it under the Support Community tab and choose the SisterMatch program. It is a lot of fun and you can find ladies just like you. Good luck and enjoy.

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome!

I did give the SisterProgram a look but it didn't seem to do anything for me... just loads a logo image and then just sits there. :(

As it says on my profile, I'm based in the UK... are there any UK PODS? Would be great to meet others... most attempts I've made through other diabetic sites (including DAFNE Online) of running a local meet have not had much success..
