Frequent UTI's?

So, I basically just crossed over from pre diabetes to type 2. While I have not had really high blood sugars (my Aic is 6.7) I have been experiencing frequent UTI's. Anyone else had this problem? Of course frequent infections can be a sign of type 2, I just thought my sugars would need to be higher. Thanks!

I only had two before and my last one was BAD! It lasted over two weeks! Also due to the fact that I didn't know I was diabetic. My doctor told me my urine was all sugar and that's why I had to use the bathroom so much and that's how I got an infection. Try getting your blood sugar down. Maybe that'll help too.

Oh wow, what can I say about UTI's they are horrible.  I was diagnosed when I was 16 years old, and if I can recall correctly I have had my in counters with UTI's since I was probably 14 oh so.  I was always afraid of letting my mother know what was going on.  First off I did not realize what it was at the time and I was to embarrassed to let my mom know.  It wasn't until I was diagnosed that the doctor asked me if I had frequent problems with going to the bathroom and skin infections. That was the moment when the doctor felt it was time to test me for diabetes; and given all the other symptoms: thirst, frequent urination, blurry vision, and extreme fatigue.  Sure enough the results were in, I was diabetic.  Since then I still struggle with UTI's they are not as frequent as before, but when I do get one it is painful and dreadful.  Trying to keep your blood sugars down is a daily struggle, but if accomplished it helps with everything else.  Especially the way your body functions.  No one likes to feel like crap, but life with diabetes is one day at a time.  You learn to embrace the good with the not so good and be optimistic.  You will have good days and bad days but the most important thing to remember is to keep going and never giving up.
