Almost everyone who has diabetes – I’ve had type 1 for 51 years – has been told to control their blood sugar. I’m here to tell you it’s not possible. But before you think, “Oh, no!” let me assure you that this is the best news you could hear.
December is a month of holiday celebration for many families as they come together to cherish the warmth and joy of the season. It is a time for family, festivity, food, celebration, and memories.
Often, people with diabetes, or pre-diabetes say, “The holidays can be wonderful but also very challenging.” With some preparation, you can make sure that the holidays do not cause you to gain weight or for your blood glucose to go way out of range, even while you share many of the holiday foods with your family and/or friends!
