Accessibility Statement

DiabetesSisters is committed to making its website and online resources accessible to people with disabilities. We want everyone to be able to find information, learn about our programs, and connect with our community, including visitors who use a keyboard, screen reader, magnification, or other assistive technology.

Our accessibility goal

We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA for the DiabetesSisters website. WCAG provides a framework for making web content more perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. Level AA is the technical target guiding our ongoing work.

We also consider the Americans with Disabilities Act’s principles of equal access and effective communication as we improve the website.

This statement describes our goal and efforts, not a claim that every page or feature currently conforms to every WCAG 2.1 Level AA criterion.

How we approach accessibility

Accessibility requires attention to both website technology and the content we publish. Our work is directed toward:

  • Making navigation, forms, and interactive features usable with a keyboard and assistive technology.
  • Providing clear headings, descriptive links, meaningful image descriptions, and understandable form instructions and errors.
  • Supporting readable text, sufficient color contrast, and browser zoom or text resizing.
  • Providing accessible alternatives for important information in videos and downloadable materials.
  • Identifying barriers through accessibility checks and feedback from people using the site, then prioritizing improvements.

An accessibility widget is available on the website for visitors who wish to adjust display and reading settings. It is an optional aid. A widget and automated checks cannot replace accessible page content, accurate captions, or testing how people actually use the site.

Limitations and alternatives

Some pages, documents, videos, forms, or embedded services may not yet work as intended for every visitor. Content and tools hosted by other organizations may also have accessibility limitations outside our direct control. We welcome reports about barriers on any part of the DiabetesSisters experience, including an event registration or a linked resource.

If you cannot access information or complete a task on our website, please contact us. Tell us what you need, and we will work with you to find another way to access the information or service while we review the issue.

Report an accessibility barrier

Use our Contact Us page to report an accessibility issue. Including the page address, what you were trying to do, and what happened will help us investigate. You may also tell us your browser and assistive technology if you are comfortable doing so.

You do not need to disclose a diagnosis, disability, or other medical information to report a barrier. We will review reports and use them to guide improvements.

Ongoing review

Accessibility is an ongoing process as our website and resources change. Automated checks help identify some issues, but they cannot establish that a website is fully accessible. We will continue reviewing feedback and updating this statement as our work progresses.
