Nice to find this site

Hi--I just found out about this site. Nice to know that it exists, for sure. I have had type 1 diabetes for 38 years now. I am married and have 3 kids. Our oldest daughter is 27, we also have another daughter, age 25 and a son age 20.

I am currently on an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor. The CGM leaves a LOT to be desired, but it helps a bit. If there are any of you out there who are dealing with type 1 and have a CGM, I would love to get some hints of how to make them more accurate and less itchy!!!

I am also looking to find out ways to lose weight from those who have type 1. It is a constant struggle. I am more than ready to take off some of my extra pounds and become more healthy regarding my weight. I need to lose about 50 pounds.

I hope to meet some great women out there who might also struggle with some of the issues regarding stress, parenting, marriage and all the other fun things having to do with having diabetes for a long period of time.

Hi Karma,
I have had type 1 diabetes for 23 years-an insulin pump for 9 years and just got a CGM in December. I have always had so many highs and lows with not being able to always notice them lately which is why I bought the monitor. When I fist got the monitor I was told the more you calibrate it the more accurate it will be, however I have occasionally found it off by over 100 points. I still like it as I can see my blood sugar at a quick glance but I still need to keep the gluagon handy as don't always pick up on the beeps until it is to late but I am trying different settings to let me know before it is to low.
Good numbers to you.
